Hey y'all!
Welcome!!!
Grab a java.
Find a seat.
&, sip on some of this pipin' HOT tea.
Y’all, to be honest, the first thought poppin’ in my head is: “OH. ME. GOSH.”
For those who are familiar, this has been my son’s favorite phrase to say for the past year. Throughout 2020, I have found myself using this phrase endlessly. This phrase was all that came to mind as I began putting this blog into action. I truly couldn’t believe that I was doing this. Placing my words on a screen is quite easy; however, I didn’t think I would ever be comfortable sharing them with the world.
When thinking of a blog name that would fit me, I couldn’t help but think of “Java & Tea”.
Why, you ask?
1.) JAVA (aka coffee) has become a necessity in my life since the start of motherhood. It provides me with the energy that I need to get through the day (or a few hours), especially as a #toddlermom. My mamas know what I’m talking about! I gotta have it: morning, noon, and night! AND, as a professional in higher education, it has sustained me on my best, worst, and on-call days. [If you know, you know!]
2.) As for the TEA...*insert side eye*...they don’t call me “Tea Time with Turner” for nothing. And, I’ll leave it at that. Primarily, my love for sweet tea is undeniable [you can check my Chick-fil-A One points]. Secondarily, while I'm sure everyone loves a little pipin’ HOT tea every now and then, I have found myself viewing tea as more than just a little gossip. With me, TEA is more than just that. It has become a way to simply ask how someone is doing. It’s a safe space to have a nonjudgmental venting sesh without fear of repercussion for what might be said. A time to READ and to be read. It can be the lifesaving advice from a friend or mentor, especially when least expected. Tea can simply be an engaging conversation with your girls that likely won’t be remembered tomorrow morning.
As you can see, tea has a lot of meanings for me. Each blog will provide you with a little something unique. “It’s like a box of chocolates.” More importantly, while reading, I hope that you feel something. I hope that you laugh, cry, and possibly disengage from your own problems for a second or two. I hope that you feel that you are not alone, because girl, we ALL HAVE PROBLEMS! I hope that you learn a life lesson or two...or can even teach me an additional one. Most importantly, I hope that when you embark upon my page, you will receive some encouragement. I hope to empower you to continue to run this race called life.
YOU’VE GOT THIS!
So, it’s time!
Grab a java, or drink of choice...I don’t judge!
Find a seat.
&, proceed to sip on some of this pipin’ HOT TEA!
With Love,
Jalesha
