Grab a Java. Find a seat. &, sip on some of this pipin’ HOT tea!
SN: It felt so great to type these words again on this fine, lovely (and EARLY) morning!
Java Junkiesss, I have truly missed you!
It has been exactly 5 months since I last posted any of my writings. (Stay tuned for another post on why the 5 month hiatus.)
Before we begin, I want to thank my family, friends, and fellow Java Junkies for being patient with me during this time. Y’ALL ARE AMAZING!! While I have plenty of life lessons and “serious” writings I could share, it’s best that I update y’all on some of the funniness that has happened in my world!
My baby sister, Justice, joined me here in Atlanta in February. We’re 19 months apart; so, we are super close...and fight quite a bit! Having Justice be closer to me and Baby D (who is not so much a baby anymore) has been refreshing and pretty great overall. She has been a great help and has helped the family run a bit smoother, especially on the super crazy and busy days!
Beginning in February, I decided to make it official by having Justice become one of my partners in the grocery store adventure. “Brocery shopping”, as Baby D calls it, is a MUST and full family adventure. EVERYBODY GOES! This particular shopping trip in March called for us to fully restock on everything. As we are venturing through Kroger, we make it to the body wash aisle. There is a portion of the wall full of Dr. Bronner’s products. All which were at a discounted price. While bragging about how great the Peppermint Castile Soap is, Justice grabbed a bottle and threw it in my buggy. I didn’t think much of it and continued my shopping trip.
A few nights later, I decided “why not?” and gave the soap a try.
Now, let’s pause right here and point out a few things!
I immediately went forth by putting a large amount of soap onto my washcloth because who truly reads the directions of the soap? I was unaware that this soap requires you to use very little (unlike others) AND that you should mix it with parts of water to dilute.
Initially, I was confused with the liquid consistency of the soap. Body washes like Dial, Dove, Caress, and Bath & Body Works with a “thicker” consistency are what I have come accustomed to. Nonetheless, I moved forward with lathering up my body.
The immediate feeling of a refreshing breeze and tingling sensation that hits your body is definitely one for the books. It left me feeling like I have not truly been “clean”. This feeling is what has honestly kept me coming back time and time again.
Lastly, WHY DID MY SISTER NOT FULLY INFORM ME OF THE DR. BRONNER’S SOAP EXPERIENCE?!?
The scream I let out of my throat hole was one for the books. The memories of trying to get direct water flow to certain areas continuously replays in my mind.
While I was thankful that my husband nor my son were aware of what was going on, I knew that this experience could only be shared with my sister. So, I proceeded to give her a call
Little did we know that in a few days, my husband would have a similar experience without asking permission to use the soap.
I can recall sitting on the bed scrolling through social media when I hear an unusual scream from the bathroom. Due to his frequent karaoke concerts in the bathroom, I just thought that he was trying to hit a note that he knew should have been reserved for the original artist. So, I didn’t think much of it.
When he came into the room, he gave me a look of defeat. After asking him what was wrong, I found out that he, too, had an interesting encounter with Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Castile Soap. Laughs filled the room, followed by interesting phone conversations with family and friends.
Y’all this entire shower was an experience that neither of us will ever forget. Most importantly, I learned to use this soap in moderation AND to be careful of where the soap goes (even the bubbles). While I still use this soap faithfully, I have had to create a strange rotating routine to ensure that this doesn’t happen again (although I have recently had one major slip up).
While I highly recommend this soap, please take my forewarning and be careful of the Dr. Bronner’s shower experience.
Hope you enjoyed laughing at my little family. Until next time, Java Junkiesss!
With Love,
Jalesha
